Bimbadeen acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as Australia’s First Peoples and the Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn, work and play. We pay our respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging. We acknowledge the Bunurong traditional people on whos land we are privileged to care for on Phillip Island.
Fact: The World’s eminent scientists say we only have 12 years to fix climate change.
Question: The emphasis is on mitigation, but who can remove the CO2 that is already up there in our atmosphere?
There is a machine in Switzerland that can sequester C02 at $1000 per tonne…it is costly and labour intensive…
THERE IS ANOTHER WAY…
The most productive and economical way to remove CO2 is the Australian farmer.
Our local farmers can sequester carbon in soils by growing deep rooted crops and grasses by photosynthesis, removing gigatons to megatons of CO2 from the atmosphere sequestering them back to the soils.
This process, even with a small 1% increase in Total Organic Carbon (TOC) enhances food production, gives the farmer an extra income from a crop that never leaves the property, and will improve the water retention in the soil by 120,000 to 150,000 litres of water per hectare depending on soil type.
Bimbadeen was CN by audit in 2001/2 and declared Carbon Neutral in July 2014, at an event at Melbourne/Olympic Parks.
Many farmers in Australia would be Carbon Neutral but not know it. Many farmers could increase their carbon content in soils and have another income as well.
